How much do you think I should sell my 1998 SeaDoo Sportster 1800? ?

It’s a twin engine SeaDoo jet boat. The Nada guide said the low value is 5,500(Base W/O options).

The fall season is not the best time of year to sell boats or water sport SeaDoo’s.

You could advertise it at the $5500 price but be willing to work a deal if someone has the money to spend and wants to buy.

Good Luck

Cooling Down in Malaysia’s Cameron Highlands

Let’s be honest for a moment, no punches pulled – the searing heat and cloying humidity in Asia is awful. It gets under your skin, wears you out and makes the Eskimo way of life seem surprisingly appealing.

However, it doesn’t have to be this way. If you fancy a short respite but can’t spare the time to pull on your sealskins and head for Alaska then the Cameron Highlands is a great halfway house.

Just three hours from KL, the largest hill resort in Malaysia is situated 1,800m above sea level in the mountainous central state of Pahang. This is a place to leave your shorts behind and revel in the need to wear a jumper as the weather in the Cameron Highlands is temperate to cool all year round, ranging from a minimum of 14oC to a maximum of 25oC. Rain is common throughout the year although the monsoon season is from November to February.

If you really want to feel chills, the coldest time of the year is between December and February where the temperature can drop to 10oC at certain places.

But the Cameron Highlands has much more to offer than just the temperature. The area was named after British surveyor William Cameron who discovered it in 1885 during a mapping expedition. Little is known about Mr Cameron, except that he appears to have been appallingly bad at his job. Despite finding what would become one of Malaysia’s most popular travel destinations, he failed to actually mark the location on his map.

Despite failing to understand the vary basics of the mapping expeditions, Cameron told others of the area and other groups set off to find it.

In 1925 a chap called Sir George Maxwell visited the highlands and decided to develop the area as a hill station. He formed a development committee which functioned until 1931. During this time, the winding road up to the highlands was constructed, a long and arduous process completed entirely by manual labour.

Once the road was constructed, wealthy residents and British government officials started building retreats for themselves on the slopes of the highlands. Some even settled there permanently and a business community developed, with farming emerging as a key activity. A permanent British army base was also established soon after that and the highlands as we know them today were born.

Over the years little has changed. The area retains the charm of its early beginnings and the visual influence of the British officials who wanted to recreate a slice of their home country in the cool air.

Fortunately, one area has seen a marked improvement. The new highway from Simpang Pulai makes the drive to the Cameron Highlands much more pleasurable than the original route from Tapah with its hair-raising hairpin bends.

Despite the easy access though, the highlands with their three main townships of Brinchang, Tanah Rata and Ringlet are still relatively untouched. The gentle old-world feel is relaxing, and life goes by a few paces slower than the rest of the country.

There are some beautiful old houses about, and as you drive from one town to the next, look out for the mock Tudor architecture. Ye Olde Smokehouse is a good example, and so is the recently-refurbished Cameron Highlands Resort. The lovely Moonlight Bungalow, which used to be owned by Thai-silk king Jim Thomson who famously and mysteriously disappeared after he went for a walk in 1967, is still there, lonely in all its deserted splendour.

It’s the sort of place to go with other families, as, when evening draws in and the weather cools down significantly it’s nice to settle down and entertain yourselves with some games and a drink (or two). Apart from eating out and the weekend night markets, there’s not much else to do in the evenings, which is exactly what you want in a retreat.

During the day, however, there is plenty of activity to keep the whole family happy. The cooler weather is perfect for golf, and the public 18-hole course (+605 491 1126) is relatively cheap and empty (RM52.50 weekdays). The rose and butterfly farms, cactus valleys and jungle walks will ensure everyone sleeps well at night.

However, there’s one attraction that it’s impossible to ignore… tea plantations. Tea is grown everywhere in the highlands, but nobody owns more bushes than the Boh tea company. Started in 1929 by John Archibald Russell, the son of a British administrative officer, the company now has four tea gardens – Boh, Sungei Palas and Fairlie situated in Cameron Highlands; and Bukit Cheeding in Selangor – constituting a total land area of 1200 hectares.

With a production capacity approaching 3,000kgs per hectare, the company produces 4m kgs of tea annually or the equivalent of 5.5m cups per day. In short, they shouldn’t be found wanting if you turn up at their factory asking for a brew.

Everyone heads to the main Boh tea plantation, so one good tip is to avoid the crowds and head to the Bharat Tea Estate instead. Located along the main road from Ringlet to Tanah Rata this is a good spot where you can stop and enjoy a scenic view of a tea plantation. There is ample parking along the road and there is also a small tea shop where you can quench your thirst.

What is the AUX port in the Toyota Highlander Hybrid 2008?

I have 2008 highlander hybrid year 2008 with a AUX port near the power outlets. What is the AUX port? What can I use it for? Much detail as possible please? Thanks.

You use that to plug in an MP3 player to play on your speaker system. You’ll still have to control the player from the player, but it will play over the sound system.

November 2008 Sporting Clays Tip Released : From the Paragon School of Sporting

Choose Wisely……

November 2008 Shooting Tip

As you would expect, I field a lot of questions about shooting methods. Which is best, where and why. 30 years of sporting and watching literally millions of targets from behind the trigger has taught me this.

No one shooting method is best for all targets. The wide diversity of target presentations in sporting clays strongly suggests we have more than one shooting method in our skill inventory.

For instance, what method would you use on a fast, left to right, 40 yard crossing target off a tower? Well for starters, what breakpoint have you chosen on this bird? An early breakpoint will likely mean the speed of the bird is up, requiring a suitable lead. Midway through the flight the bird speed has slowed, changing the lead. Eventually running out of speed the bird is still a crosser, but the lead has again changed. Finally, the bird begins its descent creating another new lead picture altogether. And that picture might change 2 or 3 more times depending upon how far the bird has to fall. 1 target, 6 possible breakpoints. The odds are high the shooting method you used on the first two breakpoints won’t be the same method you would use on the last two breakpoints.

At Paragon, we primarily teach the pull away shooting method. Pull away creates excellent muzzle control and handles lead issues nicely for the majority of the presentations we face. It is a superb foundation method. But pull away is definitely not for all targets. When a particular target presentation calls for it, we also teach Churchill, swing-through and maintained lead because these methods have their advantages as well. And then there are methods for chandelles, those targets that curl, roll, slide and dive.

The key is having these shooting methods in your repertoire and knowing precisely what to use and where. Because the advantages go to those who are prepared.

“Choose Wisely” is Part 1 of an ongoing series of tips on shooting methods. Over the next few months, the monthly shooting tips will focus on one method – why and where you might want to use it – and the strengths and weaknesses of each method

Ford Mechanics Please Read!! 92 ford Explorer sport mazda manual 5 speed problems.?

TY in advance for reading. I have a 92 ford explorer sport and its having issues going into and out of 1st and reverse. Not that i cant get it into gear but i have to play with it and at times takes alittle to much force to get it out of gear. I have had no issues with slave cylender fluid lvl. 2nd issue is my shift tower is toast. I have to find gears with no help from my shift tower that makes finding 3rd a pain, my shifter just flops around lol. My plan of attak is to remove the trany and replace the slave cylender becuase my homework tells me this is the cause of my shift issue. As for my shift tower i have no idea how to order the parts for a shift tower rebuild or how to go about it realy. I plan to replace the ruber plugs on my trany while its out with metal plugs. I was hoping to get some feedback on these concerns from a pro to make sure im on the right track. TY very much in advance for any info. 92 Ford Explorer sport.

1st, there is a two piece bushing in the shift tower. pull the 4 bolts out and you can replace them no problem. second, the hard shifting into and out of gears will probably be the clutch assy. replace the clutch disc, slave cylinder, pilot bearing and pressure plate. should fix all problems

Sail Yanmar Diesel

Sail Yanmar Diesel

Sail Yanmar Diesel

Why does my yanmar diesel (marine engine) have such a dirty, oily exhaust?

I have a 1979 Oday 28′ sail boat. Our yanmar diesel produces a dirty, oily but not a smokey exhaust. Our transom is dirty almost immediately. I removed the water muffler and it’s very dirty as well and I’m doing my best to degrease it. Any suggestions?

Simple Green is your friend, it’s biodegradeable, so you don’t have to worry about killing fish.

Seals are suspect in this case. If it’s a ring seal, you’ll find that you’re making oil as the engine runs and diesel escapes the rings to pollute the oil in your crankcase. Oil that gets into the top of the cylinders from the intake valves is likely to be diluted by the injected diesel and burned.

This largly leaves exhaust guide seals suspect; oil is blowing into your exhaust manifold from the seals and out your tailpipe to dribble all over your transom.

Marine diesels are expected to last for about 20,000 hrs of operation. Depending on how they’re operated and maintained, some will last longer and some won’t make that mark, (either way it’s usually well out of warranty before it starts making problems.) Given the oily output of two strokes that are popular marine engines, you’re likely not polluting the water much more than they do.

If you’re not using a copious amount of oil, just soiling the transom, from a mechanical standpoint, it probably isn’t worth messing with; just apply a degreaser like Simple Green, scrub and rinse and you’re clean again.

If you are actually pouring quarts of oil into it regularly, it’s time to look at your engine hours and make a decision. If you’re well under 20,000 hours on a marine diesel, (likely you are,) I’d remove the cylinder head and have it redone rather than overhauling the entire engine; you’ll spend about $300 getting the head redone opposed to a couple grand in parts alone to put a short block in.

Most machine shops should be able to remanufacture your head for you, if they don’t have exchanges sitting on the shelves.

Best of Luck
