How much is the average down-payment on a house?
I currently have about $17,000 in the bank I’m planning on using towards a down payment on a house. I’ll probably be looking at a house costing around $100,000, with the top of the budget being $140,000 or so.
How much is the average down payment on a house of this cost if you’re doing a 15 year fixed mortgage?

It depends. VA and USDA is 0% down. FHA is 3.5% down. Conv loans are 5% down, unless you are purchasing in a declining market area and then it’s 10% down.
The rule is usually for every $10,000 you put down, your decrease your payments around $60 a month. With 15 yr, it’s around $80 a month.
